Product Description
A coupling, also known as a shaft coupling, is a mechanical component used to securely connect the driving shaft and driven shaft in different mechanisms for simultaneous rotation, transmitting motion and torque. It is sometimes also used to connect a shaft to other parts (such as gears, pulleys, etc.). Often composed of two halves, each connected to the ends of the two shafts using keys or tight fits, etc., then connected together in some way. Couplings can compensate for misalignment between the two shafts caused by manufacturing inaccuracies, deformation during operation, or thermal expansion (including axial, radial, angular, or combined misalignment); and also mitigate shocks and absorb vibrations.
